Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of St. Peter’s Basilica, announces several initiatives to mark the 400th anniversary of the Basilica’s dedication, including a multilingual platform for pilgrims and the launch of the new ‘Michelangelus’ font.

Multilingual liturgical platform
Describing a year of spiritual, cultural, and technological developments, Cardinal Gambetti revealed new services for pilgrims and visitors. For example, he anticipated a multilingual liturgical platform developed with the Dicastery for Communication and Translated, a global leader in AI-based language solutions.

It will offer real-time AI-assisted translations accessible by smartphone, enabling faithful to follow the principal celebrations in their chosen language.

At the entrance and at various points within the Basilica, it will be possible to scan a QR code to access a dedicated webpage providing both audio and text translations, without the need to download applications or use special equipment.

The translation system is based on the live interpreting capabilities of Lara, the artificial intelligence translation platform developed by Translated.

Chris Pratt will soon present a documentary about St. Peter’s tomb. Filming is currently underway in St. Peter’s Basilica and the Vatican Necropolis for a documentary produced by Vatican Media, the Fabric of St. Peter’s, and AF Films. American actor Chris Pratt will guide viewers on this fascinating and unique journey through faith, history, and archaeology.
“It is an extraordinary honor to partner with Pope Leo and the Vatican on this project," Mr. Pratt told Vatican News. “St. Peter’s story is foundational to the Christian faith.”
Paula Ortiz directs the documentary, which will be released in 2026 and is written by Andrea Tornielli with the advice of Pietro Zander.
The Basilica is dedicated to St. Peter, the fisherman from Galilee to whom Jesus entrusted the leadership of the Church and who was martyred in Rome on Vatican Hill in 64 AD.

MESSAGE OF THE HOLY FATHER LEO XIV
FOR THE 40th WORLD YOUTH DAY
23 November 2025

“You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me” (Jn 15:27).

Dear young people,
As I begin my first message to you, I would like to say thank you! Thank you for the joy you brought when you came to Rome for your Jubilee, and thank you to all the young people who were united to us through their prayer from every part of the world. It was a precious moment for renewing our enthusiasm for the faith and sharing the hope that burns in our hearts! Rather than being an isolated event, I hope the Jubilee encounter marks for each of you a step forward in Christian life and a strong encouragement to persevere in witnessing to your faith.

That same dynamic is at the heart of the next World Youth Day, which we will celebrate on 23 November, Solemnity of Christ the King, with the theme: “You also are my witnesses, because you have been with me” (Jn 15:27). As pilgrims of hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we prepare ourselves to become courageous witnesses of Christ. Let us begin a journey that will lead us to the international World Youth Day in Seoul in 2027.
